The Release that will Change Everything About How your Shoulders Feel.
Most people do not know the profound effects of this release, but now you will.
Here’s the thing, loves. Your shoulders have a back, a front, a top, a bottom and every angle in between. When we think about shoulder tension, most of us feel the pain and discomfort in the top and back of our shoulders, and while that pain and tension is 100% real, I am here to remind you that if one part of your shoulder is feeling dysfunctional, the antagonistic angle of that feeling is most likely where the biggest problem is.
I’m going to give you an example that I hesitate talking about called Upper Cross Syndrome, pictured above. Having a label for your symptoms can be empowering and helpful, but this is simply put, an incredibly common fascial pattern that can be easily treated and released with the right type of bodywork and exercise, not a dreaded syndrome to be feared.
Notice in the image above, the right-to-left cross that’s indicating the relationship between the tight Upper Traps and Levator, and the tight Pectorals. If you’re feeling tension or pain at one end of this line, the other end of this line is also experiencing tension and perpetuating this pattern. Patterns can only be released when all parts of the pattern are addressed.
Most of the time in Upper Cross Syndrome, the pattern is felt at the Upper Traps and the attempted release is also at the Upper Traps. But, if the pecs aren’t released, the pattern remains and so does the Upper Trap pain. Get me?
