As a Fascial Stretch Therapist, my brain does not think of the body in muscles or even muscle groups, but in lines. Through the fascia, the foot is connected to the skull and the internal organs are connected to the neck. The pain point in your ankle is the reason your hip hurts, and the tension in your hamstring is the reason why you have headaches. These are just examples of how fascial lines connect one part of the body directly to another. When we say off the cuff, “it’s all connected,” the fascia is actually the science behind how.
So, I bring you this lateral line stretch because to me, stretching the lateral line of the fascia profoundly loosens up the rest of me and I know it will connect some dots for you, too.
Also, Substack has now made it possible to upload videos right into this newsletter instead of redirecting you to YouTube. Thanks, Substack! I love a seamless transition, don’t you? Click below:
This Lateral line stretch is a staple for releasing low back pain, as is working out the hips, mobilizing the ribs and working on the low back itself. Grab my Foam Rolling For Hip and Low Back Relief masterclass to comb the whole thing through in one efficient, 75 minute sesh! You won’t be bummed.
I’m off to a busy weekend packed with loved-one quality time and delicious food. Have a great weekend guys—take a rolling class with me if it’s a chill one and have a blast if you’ve got plans!
Love,
Maggie
