This week’s FREE TECHNIQUE is about building hamstring flexibility.
I had a client on my table this week (I’m a Fascial Stretch and Massage Therapist for those of you who don’t know) who was super focused on the goal of being able to touch his toes, but the only other thing he does besides trying to do that is run long distances.
What most people don’t realize is that to build flexibility, you’ve got to activate the tissues you’re stretching, instead of dropping into a passive, touch-your-toes kind of stretch, hoping that doing it enough will increase your mobility.
When you’re activating your stretch (i.e. engaging the muscles while stretching, keeping the stretch moving and dynamic) your tissues work their way into becoming softer and warmer, therefore creating change within the tissues!
